When Jouni Miikki was considering his next career move, it wasn’t a specific technology that convinced him to join Innokas; it was the people. The recruitment process left a lasting impression through its warm and human approach where openness, individuality, and different ways of thinking were clearly welcomed.

For Jouni, that mattered. Throughout his career, he has learned that the best results come from recognizing what makes people unique and building on their strengths.

“You should always look for what a person does exceptionally well and see it as an enabler. That’s where real potential is found.”

Nearly three decades of technology evolution

As a Software Solution Architect, Jouni brings more than 28 years of technology experience to Innokas. His history with technology stretches from the bulletin board system era and on-premise infrastructure to today’s cloud platforms, cybersecurity, manufacturing systems, integrations, data, and AI. Along the way, he has worked in data management roles at Nord Pool, the pan-European power exchange, and completed data science training in 2016.

The breadth of that experience has given him a distinctive perspective. Rather than viewing technology as a collection of separate tools, Jouni focuses on how business needs, processes, information, and technology connect into practical solutions that create value.

That perspective is already paying off across Innokas. During his first months, Jouni has worked on everything from AI strategy and sales development to internal tools, marketing, and portfolio management. It matters for customers too, as software, data, and AI play an ever larger role in the demanding devices and solutions Innokas helps them bring to market.

Building a practical AI future

A major focus of Jouni’s work is leading AI adoption at Innokas and making sure artificial intelligence is applied responsibly and effectively across the organization.

While AI often inspires caution around risks and restrictions, Jouni believes equal attention should be given to opportunities. His goal is not simply to introduce new tools but to create an environment where people can safely try things out, share experiences, and discover better ways of working.

“I would like us to create a safe way for people to experiment, share ideas, and discover where AI can genuinely create value.”

He sees AI as a practical tool that can support engineering, manufacturing, projects, decision-making, and daily work throughout the organization. Equally important is ensuring that adoption remains secure, traceable, and aligned with business needs.

In practice, this has meant workshops and, in September, an AI day where 21 developers and testers worked together to bring AI into their own daily work. Jouni is also hands-on himself: he uses AI agents in his own development work, and the internal tools he has delivered so far include a quote assistant and dashboards for sales, marketing, and management.

Another area that motivates him is improving the quality and accessibility of information. “It’s not data for data’s sake. It should help people understand why decisions are made and how their work contributes to larger goals.”

Always learning, always exploring

Looking ahead, Jouni is excited by the variety his role offers. He thrives in environments where he can help solve different challenges, connect people and ideas, and continuously learn something new.

“If something becomes repetitive, I’m probably not at my best. What motivates me is being able to help wherever there is something interesting and tricky to solve.”

That curiosity extends well beyond work. His hobbies range from oil painting, 3D printing, and jewelry making to mathematics, electronics, and occasional IoT projects. For Jouni, creativity and technology are not separate worlds but different ways of exploring ideas.

Among his artistic interests, expressionism holds a special place.

“Expressionism is probably my favorite. It lets you put your feelings onto paper or canvas.”

Be it with data, AI, architecture, or a paintbrush, Jouni is driven by curiosity, experimentation, and finding connections that others might not immediately see.
